Our apparatus put great emphasis safety and preventing entrapment, a situation where escape from the fire is impossible, the water tender as a safety shelter will provide limited protection from radiant and convective heat, as well as superheated air and smoke.

Concept Design
The concept design of the firefighting apparatus and safety shelter is the idea of combination of a fire shelter, water tender and fire suppression equipment in a portable apparatus capable of bringing water, fire suppression equipment and shelter in the field that are engaged on the fire line by allowing firefighter access to firefighting suppression equipment, large quantity of water and shelter with everything imaginable for temporary survival in a wildfire.
Design Development
Juergenson’s Hydrant Bunker used its advanced computer design technology to build the toughest and most durable wildland truck available today. Juergenson’s Hydrant Bunker engineers applied 3-D modeling technology to create a flex-system to protect the durable stainless steel body from the rigors and stress of rough and uneven wildland terrain.
Prototype
The prototype of the fire-resistant shelter was constructed by first building an inner fire-resistant enclosure from aluminum sheet metal, TIG-welded to NFPA specifications with a steel hatch assembly for access. Fireproof insulation boards were then arranged around it to form a low-thermal-conductivity chamber to retard flame, heat, and fumes. A streamlined exterior shell was formed from galvanized sheet metal, TIG-welded for watertightness, with a matching steel hatchway aligned with the inner enclosure. Heavy-duty fire suppression equipment was fabricated and integrated for optimal strength, resulting in a robust, watertight prototype with enhanced fire resistance.
